Dear Friend,
As you probably know, I have a newborn boy——my first child——who is now four days old. I knew going into it there would be many sleepless nights and that it would be challenging. Well, my expectations have been met. It has been a challenging, rewarding, beautiful, easy, and hard——all wrapped up into one.
When you have a newborn, it's not a day-by-day thing. It's an hour-by-hour thing! As it so happens, my wife——is an amazing soul——she puts everyone's needs ahead of her own. She is the very last person to get sleep. She has slept an average of two hours each night for the past five nights in a row.
As you may guess, this is a problem. It is a problem because she needs to be able to sleep in order to function properly. A few days ago, she was speaking with the nurse, and the nurse told she was severely sleep deprived and she needed to sleep ASAP.
Since arriving back home from the hospital, things have gotten a little better. However, there is one thing that has stayed the same...
I, Sir Scott P. Scheper, Am Completely Incompetent When It Comes to Babies!
When he cries, I try to swaddle him and he still cries. That said, I've learned a thing or two over these past few days, and——I've gotten a little bit better.
But there is still is a glaring problem. Our little baby refuses to sleep in the bassinet because he's a smart little conniver like his father. He has finagled his way into only sleeping when he's in the hands of another person. Whether he's in my hands or my wife's hands, he sleeps. But when you put him in a bassinet, he fusses.
Therefore, we were left with very few options. We could either continue over the next few months by holding him in our arms——or go with another option...
The other option was to invest in something called a "SNOO."
When I first heard about a SNOO, I said to myself that such a device is preposterous. It is essentially a device where you strap your baby down in a straight jacket, like an insane asylum, and rest him in a bassinet. He is then rocked to sleep.
Several months ago, I scoffed at this idea. I also scoffed at the idea because the device costs $1,695. However, I have a lesson for you, and that lesson is this...
When You Are Experiencing Sleep Deprivation, You Will Pay ANY Price Whatsoever to Regain Sanity and Sleep!
Therefore, this morning I drove twenty minutes away from my house and purchased a SNOO. Howwever... in one of Scott Scheper's rare moments at being prudent, I actually purchased a pre-owned SNOO. That's right. I went on the app called OfferUp, and I purchased a pre-owned SNOO for much less than what it normally costs.
Still, it is an investment, and after I picked it up and had it loaded into my lime green Model S Tesla Plaid, I proceeded to drive home with a SNOO resting in the trunk.
As I was driving home, I was thinking to myself how peculiar it was that three months ago I said the SNOO was a preposterous device I would never get. Then, here I am today with one in the backseat of my car.
The question is, why did I change my mind? The answer to that question is simple——and this answer contains a critical lesson for those who are independent writers, solopreneurs, coaches, consultants, or anyone who wants to create something, and that is...
Your Book or Your Product or Your Service Must Be Able to Point at and Solve a Clear and Present Problem.
I am going to say that again: Your product or book or service must be able to point at——in the physical world——a present, painful problem.
The problem that I had and can point at in the physical world was my wife was sleep-deprived. She can't get any sleep, and I am rather helpless when it comes to being able to care for our baby. Mainly, I can't breastfeed, and——most of the time when little Fitzy cries, he wants to be breastfed.
Sleep deprivation is a clear problem. You can point at it in with your index finger in the physical world. It's not metaphysical, it's not hard to describe.
However, you also need to be able to point at the symptoms of the problem. The symptoms of the problem are my wife and I——she's the sweetest person in the world——and we find ourselves tired and annoyed when we had to repeat ourselves. This is uncharacteristic of us. This is a symptom of the core physical problem that we can point at (sleep deprivation).
On top of this, there's our baby who——if we compromise and accidentally fall asleep with him as we're holding him and his mouth is covered——there's a risk of SIDS, which is called Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. That is a crazy symptom of this problem.
Therefore, in this state, I decided that I would pay whatever the price is to solve this physical, present-day problem, and that is what led me to get onto the OfferUp app at 2:37 AM last night and contact several people about purchasing their SNOO.
The lesson here is simple. If you're trying to sell anything, even if you're trying to research something, it needs to address a present and physical problem. Most importantly, you need to be able to actually point at it with your physical finger and be able to solve that problem for someone.
Too often I see people pursuing niches and books and ideas that are interesting and scratch their own curiosity itch. However, they fail to actually scratch the itch of a real-world physical problem.
That is something that I work with all of my writers on in my writing incubator Write to Freedom. In fact, there is a module in which we develop your niche. We figure out what you want to write about and how it solves a real-world, physical problem that you can point at with your index finger.
If you miss this and you end up writing a book, you could end up wasting two to three years of your life writing a book that no one will read. Take it from me. When I sat down to write the Antinet Zettelkasten book, I spent four months outlining on note cards the specific problems that I would help people overcome. I have since synthesized that four-month framework down into a four-day framework to greatly expedite this process.
After you go through it, it will ensure that you write a book you were born to write, and most importantly, have it result in a massive impact on your readers.
If you're interested in learning more about this process and how you can create a book that solves real-world problems while building a sustainable income, I invite you to watch a detailed video I've prepared:
After watching, we can have a friendly, casual discussion about any questions you have. If it's a fit, great. If not, great——but at least you'll be educated about the best business model out there for creating the lifestyle you truly want.
I have limited spots available because I personally dedicate significant time to each person I work with. So, if you want to create a life where you're solving real problems that matter——where you have the freedom to be present for life's most precious moments (like those sleepless nights with a newborn) while still earning a substantial income——then watch the video now.
When you join, I'll work with you personally to ensure you're making $1,000 a month in additional revenue guaranteed. And I won't stop until we get there. After that, I'll give you the entire playbook for scaling to six figures and beyond.
Even if you find out right now isn't the best time, you'll understand this powerful business model after our call. A lot of people I speak to discover that as they go about their day, ideas for solving real-world problems start to pop up. They realize that they do have an incredible book inside them——one that can truly help people——it just needs a little time to incubate.
So whether you're ready to dive in headfirst or just curious about what's possible, do yourself a favor and watch this video. Who knows? This could be the first step towards creating a book or business that solves real problems and changes lives——including your own.
Warm regards,
And always remember,
To stay crispy, my friend.
