Dear Friend,
I'm going to tell you about a hypothetical scenario that reveals one of the most potent and powerful reasons to write a book——one that many authors never consider, and one that many of the mid-whittling Obsidian user types with zero life ambition would scoff at.
This scenario comes from the book Anti-Fragile by Nassim Taleb——and I believe once you understand what's built into it——you'll be more thrilled than ever to write the book you were meant to write.
Nassim is in Italy, speaking with his Italian book publisher——trying to convince him to include a particular story in his book. He presents a hypothetical scenario that ends up swaying the publisher's decision:
Imagine an author sitting on stage with a mid-level executive from a large bank. If both were to punch each other in the face, one would benefit...
And One Would Have His Career Utterly Ruined!
You see, if you are an author and you punch a banker in the face, in public, on stage——there is actually a benefit for you!
This is something most authors don't consider: When you have a book for sale, any publicity can become good publicity. If Nassim had actually punched a banker in public, it would've been such a big story——his name would've been everywhere——and he would've ended up selling loads of books. The banker? His career would be ruined.
He'd likely never get a job again——or at least one of a much lower station. He'd inevitably have to downgrade his lifestyle, and his career would likely never recover. It would be an enormous emotional blow, resulting in a dramatic shift in the timeline and trajectory of his life.
When you become an author, you become anti-fragile. The more chaos that enters your life, the stronger you become. Everything——good or bad——becomes fuel for your writing.
There's a quote that goes, "Nothing bad can ever happen to a writer."
Why? Because everything that happens to a writer is fodder. It's potential fuel for your next book, your next story, your next blog post, your next email. It all becomes useful. It all becomes valuable. It all becomes part of your story.
And here's the crazy part about writing a book: The downside is minimal (especially with the method I'm about to show you), but the upside is potentially massive.
Should your book become a bestseller——you have the potential to make millions upon millions of dollars and live a life you can't possibly imagine right now. And the only cost is the time you put into it.
Want to charge $10,000 for consulting? Write a book. Want to fill a $5,000 workshop? Write a book. Want to build a seven-figure business? Write a damn book.
Heck, with my teeny tiny niche of Antinet Zettelkasten, I am able to generate multiple six figures from writing one thing per month.
But most people get stuck on the writing part. They think writing a book has to be this long, drawn-out process that takes years of their life. They think they need to hole up in a cabin in the woods or move to Paris like Hemingway.
They're Wrong!
Which brings me to something I've been working on...
In Issue No. 23 of The Scott Scheper Letter, I will be revealing a three-day method for writing a book. You see, some books need 300 pages. They need to be world-changing, life-altering, massive. But other books can be 64 to 100 pages and provide one simple piece of value to readers.
I've developed a crazy, effective, insanely practical method for writing these kinds of books in just three days. And do it all without the brain-rotting tools that Internet #hustlebro Priesthood has deemed to be the flavor of the week. No AI. No ChatGPT. No digital BS.
What this entails revolves around the foundation of using only pen, paper, your freaking brain.
I highly advise you pick up Issue No. 23 of The Scott Scheper Letter. After you do——on the first of this month——I am going to package up and send to you the best piece of knowledge about creating a best-selling book.
