Dear Friend,
I am going to tell you about something known as the Lindy Effect. I am going to tell you about this idea because I believe it is one of the most important lessons anyone wanting to be a writer, creator, entrepreneur can ever learn. And it will also give you a good understanding of why I am so sold out on the idea of analog knowledge.
Right now, sitting on my desk, are three books. One was written in the 4th century. Another in the 1st century. And the third——the baby of the group——was written in 1905. That's right. I'm currently reading three books by dead people.
And here's the crazy part: These books aren't just surviving——they're thriving. They're being reprinted, discussed, debated, and applied by millions of people around the world. Some of these books——like the ones on Stoicism——are being read by some of the most influential and powerful people in the world. This, my friend, is the Lindy effect in action.
The Lindy effect states that for non-perishable things (like books, ideas, and technologies), every additional day of survival implies a longer remaining life expectancy. Unlike humans or ham sandwiches, which age and decay, some things actually get stronger with time. Think about that for a second. The longer something non-perishable has been around...
The Longer It’s Likely to Stay Around!
Take Epictetus——he was a former slave who became a prominent Stoic philosopher. He wrote his ideas down 2,000 years ago. According to the Lindy effect, his work is likely to be around for another 2,000 years.
Or how about Seneca? His letters have survived wars, plagues, the fall of empires, and the invention of the printing press. They've outlasted countless "revolutionary" technologies and "game-changing" platforms.
And let's talk about the heavyweight champion——the Bible. This collection of books has been around for millennia. It's survived countless attempts to destroy it, ban it, or replace it. And according to the Lindy effect, it's just getting started.
Now, Compare That to Your Average Tweet!
Or your typical LinkedIn post. Or——God forbid——your AI-generated content. How long do you think that stuff will last? This is why I laugh when I see these tech bros talking about "the future of content" being some AI-powered, blockchain-enabled, meta-verse hosted digital experience. It's why I cringe when I see people investing their valuable time into the digital wasteland that is Obsidian. It's why I wear a subtle smile whenever I hear some Gen Z "guru" talking about his latest online course about making online courses.
They Don't Understand the Lindy Effect!
You see, books aren't just surviving by accident. They're surviving because they're the most robust, most tested, most proven form of knowledge transmission humans have ever created.
A book doesn't need electricity to work. A book doesn't need an internet connection. A book doesn't need a software update. A book doesn't need a subscription renewal. And most importantly——a book gets more valuable with time, not less.
Every year that passes, every reader that discovers it, every discussion it sparks——all of these add to its longevity. It's the ultimate anti-fragile asset.
This is why I'm so passionate about analog knowledge. This is why I push back against the digital-everything crowd. This is why I believe in the power of writing actual, physical books. Because when you write a book, you're not just creating content——you're creating something that could outlive you by centuries.
Which brings me to something I've been working on...
In Issue No. 23 of The Scott Scheper Letter, I'm going to show you how to write a book in just three days. Not some digital PDF that will disappear into the cloud, but a real, physical book that could stand the test of time.
A book that could be discovered 100 years from now and still provide value. A book that could influence people long after you're gone. A book that gets stronger——not weaker——with each passing year. I'm going to reveal...
My Entire System for Writing a Powerful Book in 3 Days—Without AI or Crap GPT—Just Notecards, a Pen and Your Brain
Think about that. This Friday, you could sit down with nothing but a stack of note cards and a pen. By Monday morning, you could have a complete book manuscript.
Not some AI-generated garbage. Not some thrown-together PDF. A real, substantial book that could transform your life the same way my book transformed mine.
I'm talking about a book that could:
Generate multiple six figures per month
Free you from the corporate grind
Give you true intellectual freedom
Create passive income for life
Build a legacy that lasts
You can get this complete method——the same one others paid thousands to learn——for just the cost of shipping ($9.86) when you say yes to your free trial of The Scott Scheper Letter.
